We started our day off right – with delicious fresh squeezed orange juice at Louvre Michaelense, a very hip restaurant. We also had toast – one with avocado and a poached egg (#millenials), and one with peanut butter, banana, and honey.

Then we headed to Ville Franca do Campo, where we rented snorkels and got on a boat to a tiny little volcanic island just off the coast. It’s a protected area, but you can swim in the crater and there are a ton of cool fish to see! It was apparently also the site of this year’s Red Bull cliff diving competition… so… that’s a cool fact!

For lunch, we popped into Cais 20, just outside of Ponta Delgada. We ordered something weird at first – fried bread and sausages. Never again. But then we ordered fresh fish (the waiter showed us the fish and then sent it to the kitchen to be cooked) which was AMAZING! So tender and deliciously flaky. I dared Michael to eat the eyeball but he wouldn’t do it (then again, neither would I).

Because we had lunch around 4:00, we didn’t do too much for dinner. Bought some fresh bolo levedos from the grocery store and ate them at home with cheese and jam. Then we went for gelato, and on our way back, we saw a concert which involved people dressed in traditional outfits who were doing traditional dances to traditional music. Tradition! One of the dances was called pollodinho or something and totally sounded like the chicken dance song. It was surprisingly fun! Too bad we couldn’t understand anything they were saying.
