My hike with Mike

We stopped for a quick breakfast this morning and called a taxi driver to pick us up from Velas, the town near the harbour. The bakery we went to, Vertice do Triangulo, was great! Very oily but that’s what made it good I guess.

We were dropped off on top of the island near a wind farm, and walked the 3 hour hike down to Faja dos Cubres. The hike was mostly downhill but was very challenging as a result. We walked down paths lined with hydrangeas, to fields with cows, to a waterfall, then to the seaside to a Faja. Then we trekked through 3 Fajas until finally reaching our destination – a little cafe with delicious ice cream made in the Azores!

Heading back to Sao Miguel now! Hopefully our plane isn’t even more delayed than it already is… Thanks SATA!
